OpenELEC PVR Build - PVR Backend - michael7oliver - 09-21-2011

I've read instructions on setting up Live TV on the PVR build but the issue I can seem to get over is where the PVR Backends are located or if I actually have to install them myself. I've tried seeperately enabling MythTV and TVheadend under addons-->>pvr but these are just front ends right? I first have to set up a back end either on HTPC or another computer. Is it possible to set it up on the PC running OpenELEC and if so, how?

You should be able to configure TvHeadend on http://hostname:9981/ (after a reboot)

Thanks for the quick reply Rudolf. I had a little bit of trouble interpreting what you mean.

Do you mean on my a webbrowser on a separate computer go to http://hostname:9981/ ? Should I replace "host name" with the HTPC cases IP address or with whatever the hostname is as standard when I open TVheadend?

I just tried a few permutations of this with multiple reboots but with no luck.

Thanks again and sorry for my obviously low level of knowledge on this. Smile

My guess would be the IP of the openelec box, or it's name (openelec)

Have you checked openelec.os settings in XBMC if the the addon is enabled?

Yep it's enabled. Tried it all again but with no luck. Sad

on the PVR builds you have to install the tvheadend service first (Openelec addons).
After reboot you can access the web configuration, activate tvheadend client (xbmc pvr addons) and activate live tv option.

Thankyou! I dont know how I missed that. The small problem now is that when I click on the add on the screen goes blank and then it returns to the main screen. Perhaps the openELEC server is down - will try again tomorrow. Thanks again.

It should not be openelec addon server problem. What version of PVR build you use, because version pvr-ppa-odk46 had this problem. Please upgrade to latest PVR build and report back if you still have this issue. And be careful not to mix 32bit and 64 bit versions between upgrades, because binary addons then don't work as they should.
Latest PVR build (pvr-ppa-odk48) can be downloaded here:

Thanks Gujs,

I had used the daily build from here...
http://sources.openelec.tv/tmp/image/

I just put together the build you linked and the add-ons now all work. I'm now able to access the tvheadend settings.

The issue I now I have is that nothing is showing up under "TV Adapters". I have a Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-2200 MC which appears to be supported (http://linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/DVB-T_PCIe_Cards). I've searched the forums but I can't seem to find the problem. Are there any other settings I need to change to make the adapter show up?

You are welcome.

We try to add support for DVB adapters as we get request, because than we have a chance to get some feedback if card is working.

Please put your request for DVB card under Feature Suggestions and add dmesg, lsmod and lspci to your request. We will try to make it work for you then.
