new openelec use needs some help - xxxFANATICxxx - 01-24-2012

hi,

after installing open elec and boot xbmc started.

my system:

OrigenAE M10
Zotac ION ITX S
DVD: UJ -875- a slimline
OCZ Vertex3
Imon VFD + Imon Pad
TBS 6981 Twin Tuner card2x 2 gb DDR3 so - dimm

After first boot i configured my network settings (static ip adress) and aktivated LCD/VFD and imon.
All is looking pretty good, but now I want to look live tv.
I read much threads here and could see, that tv-headend must be activatet. But i could not find how i can do that.
How can I get the TV-Headend working with my TBS 6981 tunercard?
I also want to record...

I've been trying to find the same info, unfortunately it seems that even with OpenElec PVR its just not that simple to do this...

if you figure out how to do it or if anyone has a howto that works, please tell us Smile

I found that I have to use a pvr - build, i installed pvr build
http://sources.openelec.tv/tmp/image/openelec-pvr/
then you can activate pvr.

Hi

The main problem is that tbs6981 need specific drivers dvb + a included "non free" module to work ... (non free mean no open source)

http://www.tbsdtv.com/english/Download.html

I've got the TBS-6980 from long time ago and install it on a standard linux box on a special vdrlivehd mediacenter

I think you may try to fake the current build and replace current dvb drivers with the specific one .... I am currently discovering the Openelec distrib ... not enough skill to fake system for now

Re: new openelec use needs some help - Questionario - 01-24-2012

activate PVR how?
I tried installing vdr-addon as well as tvheadend (only one at a time) and tried to enable any pvr-client which didn't work (if I click on enable, they just stay disabled).
so if you got it working I would appreciate if you could post how you did it.
If I install just tvheadend, I can browse the web-ui of tvheadend and see the channels but I would like a real integration into XBMC, not just some hotlink.
thanks

i have the problem that it shows the addon as enabled, but when i want to start live tv it says no pvr addon activated :-(
Is there a way to see if the dvb tuner is installed ?

Re: new openelec use needs some help - Questionario - 01-26-2012

to the first part: I haven't been able to get LiveTV working either.
As for the second question: yes, if tvheadend is enabled you can browse to it, I think it's http://openelec:9981/ by default there you can see if it found your adapter in the settings, nonetheless this does not mean that it is integrated as LiveTV.
If you do get it working post it here, then I can copy what you did :-P

at first you have to install hts tvheadend, you can find it in addons, services.
When you have installed it, reboot.
then connect from other computer to the webinterface ipofbox:9981 (example 192.168.0.40:9981)
configure tvheadend there. when you have finished, activate addon pvr client, then enable live-tv in system.

Re: new openelec use needs some help - Questionario - 01-27-2012

mhh, unfortunately that doesn't work for me.
I can configure tvheadend but I cannot activate any of the PVR clients :-(
how did you do it? did it work right away? which one did you use and how did you configure it?

Re: new openelec use needs some help - joeythelips - 01-27-2012

In Addons/Services, you need to update the tvheadend client to 1.02 (or 1.03). Which version of the daily builds are you using? Some of the 95xx builds broke the tvheadend client.
You need to be on the PVR build for the platform you are using - Fusion, Ion etc.
