BR playback with dev build r9725 - acegis - 02-08-2012

Hi all,

maybe another stupid question from very beginner ;-)
As I understood new builds allow to play encrypted BR discs.
I use build OpenELEC-Fusion.i386-devel-20120201182055-r9725 but I can NOT play blu-ray disc

the log is here:

The libaacs library supposed to be included in new builds but... no sucess, what is wrong?
Should I install something extra or what?

Hi,

Please read carefully:

This is for now the only thing we can do to help you.

Re: BR playback with dev build r9725 - acegis - 02-08-2012

so how to play BR discs? use makemkv plugin?

Re: BR playback with dev build r9725 - xe - 02-08-2012

as therio pointed out due to the legal reasons we cant say more than we have

you wont find a "point and click guide on how to do this" anywhere on this domain.

sorry

Re: BR playback with dev build r9725 - devkid - 02-13-2012

I dont really see what the current legality problem is. As stated on the homepage, makeMKV is currently free while in the beta stage?

Re: BR playback with dev build r9725 - tergo - 02-13-2012

OpenElec devs do not want to risk getting in trouble by providing links to Bluray keys or instructions on how to do it.

So yes it is possible to play encrypted Bluray thanks to the work of LibAACS and LibBluray, but you must find this information and keys from other sites.

This is a perfectly sensible approach. Just use google.

Re: BR playback with dev build r9725 - xe - 02-13-2012

I removed the information posted earlier.

Please do not post this information.

The debate on the grey area on legality is not one we can make. We are not lawyers and have no wish to risk any kind of legal action and therefore the future of OpenELEC on our guestimations of the law or random thoughts on the matter.

Be sure that if this become clearer the upstream projects will make this information available as part of the package itself.

Sorry, for that. I didnt mean to cause any trouble. I posted it cause I was thinking it was safe to share that info without legality problems. I understand though when you take it down to avoid any risk no matter how high it is.
