CAM support for watching encrypted Channels - aidun - 02-19-2012

Hey!

Is there a good tutorial to get openelec working with cam support? I know tvheadend wont work without a cam/card server, but i do not found anything to get this working on a standalone openelec box.

If you want to use CAM only, than you will have to try this with VDR. It is also in our service addons. But if you would like to use tvheadend, then just softcam will work for you. Here is one tutorial that might help you with this:

Thank you for the fast answer!

The vdr service addon did not work at the moment on ION x86_64 bit builds. It is not installable. There is also a ticked opened on github. Unfortunaly I am too new to openelec to solve the problem by myself.

Which solution would you prefer, or better: Which solution tvheadend or vdr hast the best tv-quality?

I use tvheadend. TV quality is not depending on tvheadend or VDR. I use tvheadend as it includes what I need and it is simpler to configure.

Okay, I thought it wont work on openelec only, but this seems to be not the case. Only one more question about this:

I have the techno trend budget c-1501 with integrated ci modul, do i have to buy such a usb reader as in the thread described?

Re: Aw: CAM support for watching encrypted Channels - Gujs - 02-20-2012

CI module is unusable with tvheadend. Yes you will have to buy card reader if you want to use your subscription card with softcam. But check around on google if your card works with softcam first.

If you want to use CI module of your card, then just VDR is an option.

I testet vdr-addon with xmbc xvdr addon yesterday after your posts and had some trouble:

1. The starting order of the plugins ist not korrekt (pvr-manager, says there where no client avaiable but it is)
2. If i want to watch a channel, xvdr says: The device is in use ... but that is not possible.

here is the /var/log/message

Edit: Okay i got it ... wrong channel.conf the the service file for vdr-addon includes the parameter -P sc which forces a softcam. After removing it, all works.

Re: Aw: CAM support for watching encrypted Channels - Gujs - 02-20-2012

Do you have maybe tvheadend addon still installed? I know that tvheadend will use device even if you don't use it. So uninstall or disable tvheadend addon.

Hi!

I installed the OpenELEC_PVR-Fusion.i386-devel-20120127203144-r9708 version, activated the vdr-addon in the XBMC-Addons menu, and copied my channels.conf (Userdataaddon_dataservice.multimedia.vdr-addonconfig). Its works.
I put the cardclient.conf file in the Userdataaddon_dataservice.multimedia.vdr-addonconfigpluginssc patch, but the encrypted channels not working.

I have an other system based on Ubuntu, and there works the cardclient.conf.

What can I do this?

Sorry my bad English.
