Strange problem with actor thumbs - rockdawg - 03-20-2012

I have 5 XBMC systems around the the house two are Windows boxes running Eden RC2. The other 3 are openelec machines running the OpenELEC-ION.i386-devel-20120309125838-r10068 nightly. All 5 boxes are using mysql central db with a central Thumbnails folder. The thumbs are shard via:

Code:
<substitute>
<from>special://masterprofile/Thumbnails</from>
<to>smb://192.168.1.20/xbmc_stuff/Thumbnails/</to>
</substitute>

in all 5 advancedsettings.xml. I double-checked to make sure they are all the same

I noticed some of my movies didn't have all the actor thumbs so I refreshed one of them from one of my Windows machines. After refreshing it the thumbs show correctly on both of the Windows machines, but the 3 openelec machines appear as thought the refresh never happened. If I refresh another movie from one of the openelec machines, the new actor thumbs are found, but they appear on all the machines. This only happens with actor thumbs. If I change the movie cover and refresh from a Windows machine, the change is reflected on all machines. The same is true for any other info. It's just the thumbs that have a problem when refreshed from a Windows box

I know this sounds really weird, but does anyone have any idea what the problem is?

You are running eden. Eden has had several dbase changes.

Check mysql i am prepared to bet you have several XBMC databases.

If you are going to do this you need to make sure they all access the same one.

Thats starting point one. Post back when checked xbmc.log to see what dbase each are using

I'm not home right now, but I checked my server the other day, and when I upgraded all my machines, the video db version went from 58 to 60. I deleted version 58 and after running all the machines for a few days, there was still only one version (60) showing on my server.

Additionally, if the db versions were different across machines, then other changed info wouldn't sync, but it does. For example, while trying isolate the actor thumbs issue, I deleted a few of the actors from the nfo for a movie and refreshed the info for that movie. No matter whether I refreshed from a Windows machine or an openelec machine, the missing actors were always reflected on all machines. I then went and re-scraped the actors for that nfo to reacquire those missing actors, and again, no matter which machine I refreshed from, the new actors always appeared on all machines. Their thumbs however acted as I described in the OP. Strange.

I've confirmed that they are all using version 60 of the db. Any ideas here?

Maybe this can help you on your quest.

Thanks, but I've read the Wiki entry before. Nothing there explains why I'm having this issue or why it seems to only be a problem with openelec.

Re: Strange problem with actor thumbs - xe - 03-22-2012

Could one set of boxes be using dds only and the other wanting non dds?

Re: Strange problem with actor thumbs - rockdawg - 03-22-2012

I am only able to check one of my openelec machines remotely and it has DDS enabled. One of my Windows boxes has it enabled and the other doesn't, but the one that does have it enabled is the one I did most of my testing from and is the one I started updating my actor thumbs from. So I would think that I wouldn't have noticed a problem initially if it's the DDS, right?

I thought DDS was just for fanart. It's used for actor thumbs too?

I still think it's something that could be fixed this way:

Re: Strange problem with actor thumbs - rockdawg - 03-22-2012

Looking at my Textures6.db all it had it in were logos for my TV shows and some logos for addons. I deleted it and rebooted one of my openelec boxes and it still does the same with the actor thumbs.
