Mounting a NAS drive to record live TV - PeterE - 11-05-2012

Hi
I would like my TV recordings to be saved to my NAS drive.
Current the recordings appear to be stored in \192.168.1.71Recordings however I have limited space since I run Openelec off a USB stick. 192.168.1.71 is my openelec box.
I would like to redirect my recordings to my NAS drive directory \192.168.1.100pvr_recordings.

Could someone please help me. I am new to Openelec and cannot fathom out how to do this.

Thanks
Peter
PS I am running "OpenELEC 2.0 (stable) - 2.0.0 ION x86_64 (109 MB) MD5"

Hello,

had exactly the same problem as you a few weeks ago.

take a look at the wiki
http://wiki.openelec.tv/index.php?title=Mounting_network_shares#OpenElec_.28.28pre.29Eden.2C_Frodo.29

tells you everyting you need and its easy to do

Re: Mounting a NAS drive to record live TV - PeterE - 11-07-2012

Hi patlabor

I am still having problems

So, I have a shared directory called /pvr on my nas drive 192.168.1.71
In addition, on my openelc box, 192.168.1.100, I have the directory /storage/pvr

I would like to mount the NAS drive directory /pvr so that when I save my recordings to /storage/pvr they are saved to the NAS drive.

So, I have created the autostart.sh file in the directory /storage/.config/ on the openelec machine (or directory \192.168.1.71Configfiles looking from a windows machine)

My contents of my autostart.sh file is
#!/bin/sh
(sleep 30;
mount -t nfs 192.168.1.71:/pvr /storage/pvr -o nolock;
)&

In linux I type "sh autostart.sh"

After a bit of a wait, I get the following error message

autostart.sh: line 2: $'': command not found
mount: RPC: Remote system error - Connection refused
mount: mounting 192.168.1.71:/pvr on /storage/pvr failed: Bad file descriptor
autostart.sh: line 3: $'': command not found

What am I doing wrong?
Thanks for your help

Peter

try
Code:
#!/bin/sh

(sleep 15;
mount -t nfs 192.168.1.71:/pvr /storage/pvr -o nolock)&
if that doesn't work run this
Code:
dos2unix autostart.sh
then run it again

Re: Mounting a NAS drive to record live TV - PeterE - 11-07-2012

Thanks lrusak

Some progress, but not there yet.

I got confused in my email (and autostart file) since my NAS drive is 192.168.1.100

Also I did dos2unix (file was in dos format), and the pvr directory is also PVR and I corrected that since I remembered unix is case sensitive.
So, now I have

#!/bin/sh
(sleep 15;
mount -t nfs 192.168.1.100:/PVR /storage/pvr -o nolock)&

but I get the error
sh autostart.sh
root ~/.config # mount: RPC: Remote system error - Connection refused
mount: mounting 192.168.1.100:/PVR on /storage/pvr failed: Bad file descriptor

I have managed to mount my pictures and movies directories via Openelec using SMB. Is there a configuration file I can view to see how they are mounted?

Re: Mounting a NAS drive to record live TV - lrusak - 11-07-2012

The syntax is correct, but perhaps the export path isn't correct

are you sure it's not /mnt/PVR or something on your NAS?

Re: Mounting a NAS drive to record live TV - PeterE - 11-07-2012

I agree, but I do not know how to find this out.
In windows it maps it as \192.168.1.100pvr from windows explorer however Windows is not case sensitive. It is Iomega Nas home media centre NAS drive, and within the Windows configuration manager software for the NAS drive, the drive is shown as "PVR".

That was why I was wondering whether there was a configuration file in Openelec which would indicate how the "Movies" and "Picture" shares were mapped using SMB.
Thanks for your help so far.

Re: Mounting a NAS drive to record live TV - lrusak - 11-07-2012

What type of NAS is it?

Maybe this will help out? http://wiki.openelec.tv/index.php?title=NFS_Shares_with_Synology

Re: Mounting a NAS drive to record live TV - PeterE - 11-07-2012

It is a Iomega Home Media Network Hard Drive, Cloud Edition

Re: Mounting a NAS drive to record live TV - lrusak - 11-07-2012

Holy crap it would've been good to know that your stupid hard drive NAS thing doesn't even support NFS.

you will have to use SMB.
Code:
mount -t cifs -o username=gilphilbert,password=mysecret,rw //192.168.0.30/tvseries /storage/tvseries
