try this config / entry .... /storage/.config/asound.conf

I would just try setting you audio devices to custom and using

or
and correct configuration for your Onkyo receiver ... /storage/.config/xorg.conf

i tried... same result
i´ve also testet various hdmi cables - no success. the onkyo av receiver and those cables are working on dts hd while using consumer bluray player (lg)

but... there is no custom option in audio setup menu...
and there is also no xorg.conf in .config

xorg.conf file you create and customize itself to your TV / receiver
My config is so ... but the TV HDready samsung / DENON recaiver

If it makes you feel any better, with an Onkyo receiver also I get the same result on Generic build with GT610. I don't think HD Audio on Openelec is ready for primetime.....

one question:
if i switch to "analog" the onkyo switches to multichannel. is this the demuxed dts-hd audio in single pcm streams?

No, it would have to decode the HD stream in software which doesn't happen. It needs to pass through.
