Audio Engine Error - no devices found (Beta 6 2.95.6) - mkjeldsen - 12-27-2012

I cannot select any audio devices after doing a manual upgrade to beta 6.

Audio worked in version 2.x (optical) on the same HTPC.

I followed the wiki entry about doing the upgrade manually: http://wiki.openelec.tv/index.php?title=HOW-TO:Updating_to_OpenELEC_3.0

There is no asound.config present.

I am not using an SSD.

My receiver is on and set to the HTPC input channel during boot.

This is the output from aplay -l

**** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices ****

Any ideas?

To make absolutely sure none of my old config files were interferring, I did a clean install of generic OE 3.0 beta 5, but still no audio devices found.

I have reverted to OE 2.0 Stable for now and will wait for the final OE 3 build.

try to ssh in and run

> killall -9 xbmc.bin

and see if it works. it's possible that openelec is coming up before the devices are initialized

if that fixes it, run this command:

> echo "sleep 5" >> /storage/.config/autostart.sh

that might help.

I personally had an old sound driver that was taking 16 seconds to come up. nuked all sound config files and things started working right.

This strategy worked for me, my /storage/.config/autostart.sh contained the lines:

Code:
#!/bin/sh
sleep 5

OpenELEC RC1, Nvidia-ION, SSD

Thanks! I will try these things when I have some time to try OE 3 again.

do this

Code:
echo "#!/bin/sh" > /storage/.config/autostart.sh
Code:
echo 'while [ "`aplay -l | grep NVidia`" = "" ]; do; sleep 1; done' >> /storage/.config/autostart.sh
Code:
chmod +x /storage/.config/autostart.sh
