C-Media 5.1 CMI8768 Not working - homerjr43 - 02-25-2013

Hello,

I could use some help. I have the C-Media 5.1 CMI8768 which has COAX audio out. DTS video files passthrough sound to my receiver, but I am not getting any audio within XBMC. Also, I cannot play music and I do not have sound when using airplay. I am using the RC3 build.

Under settings, I have the output and pass through set to C-Media 5.1 CMI8768, C-Media 5.1 PCI IEC958, with gui sounds set to always. Under audio output, it has a few more options, but none of work.

Thanks so much,

Hi, I am having the exact same problem. It seems that any 5.1 audio will work but 2.1 won't play. So no music, menu sounds, sd movies etc. I'm trying to figure out what changed but even if I go back to RC2 but it doesn't work. I've also tried setting the sound card manually. Other than that I don't know what to do.. Anyone have any insight? I have the same sound card as OP.

I've updated to RC4 and it still doesn't work. Anyone have any suggestions?

Remove all asound.conf you have laying around and post a full xbmc.log with debugging turned on.

After the asound.conf is removed, turn on debug logging. Now reboot, check your audio settings, play some mp3s, watch a movies, press stop.

cat /storage/.xbmc/temp/xbmc.log | pastebinit

afterwards. And post the link you get.

Hi Fritsch,
Thanks a lot for the reply. Smile

Please use: "cat /storage/.xbmc/temp/xbmc.log | pastebinit" without the "" to get the logfile. It is to be completely entered in the terminal. Afterwars you get a sprunge url.

The logs do not look so bad.

a) Can you make a photo from your Audio Settings screen and upload somewhere?

What also makes me wonder is: There is no nvidia audio device at all listed in the setup.
b) Can you do: killall -9 xbmc.bin and paste the logfile directly afterwards again?

I use the GPU for video only. Here is my aplay -l:

The C-Media device is my sound card. That's what I"m trying to play the audio with.
