Store cache on SD or USB Stick - patxiku69 - 03-15-2014

Hello, when I'm trying to play a HD 1080p movie on my rasp it starts buffering. Buffers does not take long because the cache is full in secs and after playing another 10 sec of the movie it buffers again.
I have tryied changing advancedsettings.xml cache values but it does not work.
I was wondering if there is any way to create a partition in the SD or using a USB stick for storing buffer data to watch whole movie without freezes.
this is my advancedsettings.xml right now:
Code:
<advancedsettings>
<network>
<buffermode>1</buffermode>
<cachemembuffersize>0</cachemembuffersize>
<readbufferfactor>4.0</readbufferfactor>
</network>
</advancedsettings>
I have a FAT32 formated usb stick conected.

I hope you can help me. Smile

And sorry about my horrible english, I'm writting the best I know. Sad

<cachemembuffersize>0</cachemembuffersize> means "write to disk" on the SD card instead of using much faster RAM .. I would remove the custom advancedsettings.xml so you're using the known-good defaults

I followed the official XBMC tutorial, it does not work for me.
I'm trying to use a device as RAM so i can store much more ram.

Followed this at http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=HOW-TO:Modify_the_video_cache:
Code:
Example 1
All three options enabled, using local hard drive for cache.
advancedsettings.xml
<advancedsettings>
<network>
<buffermode>1</buffermode>
<cachemembuffersize>0</cachemembuffersize>
<readbufferfactor>4.0</readbufferfactor>
</network>
</advancedsettings>
