As chewitt wrote in other thread
http://openelec.tv/forum/68-audio/69828-problem-with-passthrough-audio-on-oe-4-0#100238 there is no dual audio since eden.

But im not english native and technician so i think i missunderstand something.
My old ION htpc is connected via optical to amplifier (analog stereo via dac) and via hdmi to TV. In previous OpenELEC Stable - ION x86_64 Version:3.2.4 in the same time i had sound in TV and in receiver. Now i can have sound only in optical or only in HDMI. This is what U mean single output?
It causes i have to change audio settings in OE everytime i stop watching TV and start listen music or watching movie content and vice versa (which obviously sux). Smile

Does previous functionality be back?

Use an avr receiver with hdmi input.

Its impossible. May be i didn't write. I don't have receiver with HDMI input. Only DAC with optic/coax, but mu HTPC has only optic. HDMI is reserved for TV.

Nice try.
Thx.

Last time I looked they still sell this kind of devices. So I think it should be possible.

Stop trolling If U have no other idea. Do gather stars in other thread.
Thx.

So ideas you dislike means trolling?

I like the approach from OpenELEC to not support every possible hardware constellation that is thinkable. No need for fiddling with the configuration and it gets streamlined more and more. Most of the newest devices that are interesting for OpenELEC even don't have an optical output anymore. Why bother about it?

It looks like you don't like that, maybe OpenELEC is not for you or at least for your hardware then?

This is how xbmc works now with audio engine and activeAE. This will most likely not change.

I have also my TV on HDMI and my receiver using Optical.
Manage to have dual sound, but only when watching a movie, TV or my series. You tube sound also works fine.
Menu, MP3's and TVtunes are only working on my TV trough HDMI and not on my speakers through optical

Only way to listen to MP3's or hear my TVtunes is to Stereo Upmix. But this does give me a very distorted sound

Here a screenshot of how I am able to hear every sound through optical but with distorted sound

This way I can only hear sound of my videos. No menu sound, MP3's and TVtunes. This way sound is perfect
