Hi OE people :-)

I have a asrock 330, running newest build of OE as a HTPC in my livingroom.
Connected to a denon amp. (which has full support for 7.1)

When i'm trying to se a 7.1 blu ray rip, only noise coming out of all speakers are some loud crackling.

I'm affraid that the asrock cant handle 7.1 surround output through hdmi. Or is it OE that cant?
As reading from Google claims that the asrock does support 7.1

Could it be the drivers?

i have no more ideas.

5.1 Works flawlessly :-)

The 330 is a first-generation ION device which does not support hardware passthrough of the HD audio formats that most 7.1 audio uses. It will support 7.1 LPCM over HDMI, but this requires software decoding and the CPU won't be capable of that .. hence the crackly noises you're hearing.

Auch - that was kind of what i expected to hear, since i have tried everything else.
But still aint funny to hear that the old fantastic asrock 330 Hardware is ready to be degraded to kitcehn/bedromm machine Wink

Do you have any ideas of what Hardware to look for that can handle the 7.1? as a htpc - you probaply know the rules - low noise, IR and so on :-)
