How can I tell if my tuner card is supported? - sincityharley - 08-07-2014

I ran these two ssh commands

mediacenter:~ # lspci -v -nn | pastebinit
http://sprunge.us/EYiF

mediacenter:~ # dmesg |pastebinit
http://sprunge.us/beBQ

I found my WinTV PVR 150 in the lspci section but I dont see any reference to the same tuner in the dmesg. Does that mean its not going to work?

PVR 150 definitely works in linux. It was a long time favourite on mythtv. However with the shift to digital I am not sure what you think you are going to capture with it!

You can simply install the tvheadend addon and see if it pops up as adapter in the interface at http://YOURIPADRESS:9981
A good source to look at is also linuxtv.org: http://www.linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/Hauppauge#Analog_Devices

That is a very good point with regards to the shift to digital. Can you make a recommendation on a more updated card?

I had already gone the route of tvheadend. My card wasn't showing up in the dropdown and I have 3 of them so doubtful they are all bad. I had followed the troubleshooting steps here http://wiki.openelec.tv/index.php/Configuring_Tvheadend which led me to post on this forum.

It really depends where in the world you are. Different countries have different TV technologies.
