Belkin Bluetooth USB Dongle (F8T012) not working - ToBe - 12-06-2014

Hi,

I tried to use my Belkin Bluetooth USB Dongle (F8T012) on my Zotac ID11 HD but apparently it is not recognized by openelec.

Also, bluetoothctl doesn't seem to work as it is not taking any input after being launched. I can only use ctrl-c to exit.

I also tried all this with the latest OpenELEC (official) Version: 4.97.1 but without luck.

I'm looking forward to any hint or suggestion.

Cheers,
ToBe

Edit: According to this thread the dongle was working.

I have the same problem with the same dongle and OpenELEC Version 4.97.2.

I just updated to 5.0.0 but the problem still exists. Can someone provide some information on how to get it going or am I simply out of luck with this device?

I have the same BT dongle and have been v.happily using it for a few years on OE XBMC 13.2 (Git: 0f3db05) on an Acer Revo 3700.

I got another Acer Revo machine to install OE, put in the same BT dongle and the system does not even detect the adapter being present? I've tried this on 3 separate system installs:

- [Stable] OpenELEC 5.0.8 (x86_64)S Details
- [Beta] OpenELEC 5.95.2 (x86_64)S Details

I even went back to install [Legacy] OpenELEC 4.2.1 (x86_64)S Details - but still same issues and no joy with the detection of the adapter.

What could this be - since I'm using exactly the same build on the Revo 3700 and the adapter is working fine? Can't see how just using a different machine will make a difference if using the same OS?

To me it apears that at some point the driver has been removed from OE but maybe since it was in use in our older machine it somehow wasn't.

ToBe, what are you using for a remote now - what's best to do?

I'll have to double check the version I'm running on my Acer Revo 3700; however, come to think it - now that you mention, I think the version of OE I'm running that on was upgraded from a previous OE version, thus the driver would still be there?

I'd guess you're right, as surely one of those builds - regardless of device would work?

So, two way's to go forward; how to get this driver, or how to get an older build of OE (prob v.3) and then upgrade?

Cheers Smile

I am using a Logitech Harmony via a IR-USB dongle. I wanted to use bluetooth to hook up a wireless keyboard.

I haven't found a solution yet. IMO it should be fixed in OE or upstream properly.

Could you share a link to that remote please?

I don't think it's going to be fixed since by the look of it, it's been overlooked/omitted for quite a while. I guess I've been lucky in upgrading over the top of an old build where our BT dongle worked. Unless we can formally request for it to be fixed somehow?

IMO it should be fixed. I should open an issue on github someday.

I can confirm that in the 3.2.4 build this adapter works.

I did a fresh install on the Revo R3610 and the adaper is recognised and you can pair the remote Smile

What I couldn't achieve, however, was updating to newer builds from 3.2.4 using the manual process Confused
