Simple file system permissions question - heliomoon - 04-02-2015

Hey all, I'm a noob when it comes to Linux, but I've managed to get pretty far with my first htpc setup with OpenELEC. I'm trying to install tv_grab_file for EPG support , and I can save the file to storage/downloads, but everywhere I'm reading says I need to put it in /usr/bin. But this directory (along with pretty much everything else) is read-only. Am I totally missing something here? Can I not put files in /usr/bin? Where am I supposed to put executables then? Thanks much.

Only /storage is writable. You can put your file anywhere under this folder and use absolute path when calling it like /storage/your_script.sh.
