Raspberry OpenElec does not recognize HDD 2.5" - ju4nr0 - 05-07-2015

Hi all,

I hope you can help me.

I have a Raspberry Pi 2 model B+, with 2A power supply and OpenElec version 5.0.8 installed.
And I have an external HDD 2.5", USB powered. This HDD have two partitions: one with NTFS format, and another one with EXT4 format.

I plug-in the HDD to the Raspberry using an USB port, and the Raspberry does nothing. I don't have any message, and no HDD's partition appears in the menu system -> system info -> storage.
Neither in system -> file manager.
Neither in video -> files.

I only can see the SD card partitions.

I've tried to mount the hdd manually using SSH, but I couldn't Sad
I've executed dmesg, mount and parted commands, and here is the result:

DMESG: http://sprunge.us/JXZf
MOUNT: http://sprunge.us/idfU
PARTED: http://sprunge.us/SQaJ

Please, can you help me?? What can I do to make the Raspberry recognizes the HDD?

Thanks so much.

Regards,
Juan.

If the hard drive is usb powered only then there's a good chance the Pi can't power it. You'll need to look into getting a powered usb hub like I did.

Seems to me like something is wrong with your HDD
Code:

If you have a proven strong psu you can try to add a line to your config .txt which give the option for more current over usb

max_usb_current=1

Add this at the end of text and try.......

Thank so much!!! Smile

Adding that line to the /flash/config.txt file, works!
