Openelec on Tangent Rugged Mini-GM - Toublack - 06-11-2015

I am researching a nice, space saving mini HTPC/box to replace my buddy's ATV2 and I stumbled upon this Tangent branded Rugged Mini-GM.

It would basically used to run Openelec only (no heavy lifting), connected to a TV via a Bose Sound System and plan on using the Bose remote to control it (FLIRC, right?).

Does any body have experience with this box?

Here are the specs:

Chipset: Intel GM45 chipset

I/O Ports: One Serial port /Four USB 2.0 ports (2x front, 2x rear) /One RJ45 /Two VGA ports, one HDMI
Audio ports (line-in/mic, line-out/spkr-headphone)

Any thoughts?

Looks like the graphics chipset might work

How much are these things? I see them for around $125 on ebay (second hand I guess).

For not much more you can get a chromebox brand new. Ruggedised costs.

Hi nickr,

Yeah, I compared the specs against the list and paid special attention to see if the graphics checked out.

I found a couple of listings on eBay for about $90, free S&H. Second hand yes. I also checked Tangent's website but they have no price listed for their newer boxes but rather offer a contact them (to buy I guess) option.

I thought of a different avenue but the thing is that my buddy will only have a basic limited use for any box I get him: just to run Kodi and nothing else.
