Newbie question. How to dump the kodi loading ico - PatrynXX - 03-06-2016

icon in the upper right corner of the screen. Is there an option to shut fhat off. It can get annoying. Like subtitles that I don't want on I've used OpenElec for a number of years but version 6 onwards seems to be there by default. I Had a Raspberry Pi board B+ , got B2 for a retiring teacher in June then I got one then got another to show it off on what it can do since my dad doesn't seem to understand it. (very long annoying story there) and just recently got a mini keyboard for it so it's been alot of fun. Plan on getting Raspberry Pi 3 but that one I'll likely run computer stuff with. I've looked just about everywhere in the software to shut it off. So I assume the only other way it to change the coding in windows (I used Notepad ++ )

'Koki loading ico' ?

Why not take a photo of it and show it to us, because I have no idea which ico(n) in the upper right corner you are referring to. Which Kodi skin is used?

Only icon in the upper right corner I can think of is the RPi's own colorful icon when your power adapter source is inadequate and the RPi has to downshift itself.

wonder if thats it. I'll have to try the actual 2.5 amp power I do have. didn't think an icon would come up for a 2.1 amp have had no issues with it but it's possible. I just figured it was a loading icon. (square and multi colored like the old Windows icon but a bit more colorful ) can't check it tonight. but will check it out tomorrow. It never occured to me that an icon would show up about underpower. But then again it would explain why it started showing up under the Ras 2.

More power is required when booting the RPi. And your 2+ amps adapter may not be it says it is. Plenty of power adapters are sold "with the wrong sticker on it". Mind you, the RPi3 requires a 2.5+ amps adapter (when using 220v at least).

fairly sure this is a 2.1 amp because it's the only one that works with the Samsungs and they won't work with anything under 2.1. But you are right it does need 2.5 amp well need vs work I was told it should work fine on 2.1 amp just don't plug much into it. But never thought to tie an icon to it. and I have the power supply that goes with it. But didn't want to use it unless I really had to and looks like I might have to. Might be the reason I can't get to the workgroup either which is where I'd been sticking movies on. Oh well use it more and learn more thats the key. And now I learned what that icon is for. Thanks Smile

Don't forget - it's not just the adaptor. The USB lead needs to be good quality as well. Many leads are not. And long leds are bad - they cause too much voltage loss.

The 220V isn't relevant. The 2.5A relates to the 5V output.
And the square is an under-voltage warning, nothing to do with current.
Some 2.5A power supplies will be rubbish (because the voltage drops), some 1A will probably be fine - they certainly are on an RPi2 as long as you're not powering much from the usb ports. IIRC the RPi foundation page says 1.2A is ample for most people on an RPi2, even though the recommended psu is 2A.
That 2.1A adapter may well be chucking out 2.1A (if required) but if it doesn't maintain 5V you see the square.

Very true. I bought a charge doctor (a usb ammeter - 99p from ebay) when I was trying to get charge/sync working on a windows tablet, and it's amazing how much difference changing the lead can make.
Edit: and FWIW I've never seen a Pi or Pi2 go anywhere near 1A unless it has a hard drive attached to it.
