I am not sure. This is my motherboard. GA-MA78LMT-S2
manual

Re: GT430 no Sound? - Andro - 07-19-2011

BIOS option: onboard audio, enable/disable. No change with either result. However, I am back to getting the error in XBMC to check audiosettings.

have u had sound working with another os ?

also did you modify the asound.conf you had made with hw:1,3

reboot and check it out again

it should be working under that plughw:1,3

do me a favor post the output of

cat /proc/asound/cards

Re: GT430 no Sound? - Andro - 07-21-2011

this is a new machine, i have not had sound working with any OS, but ELEC was my first choice. i may try LIVE if need be.

i have modified and rebooted, no change

Code:
root ~ # cat /proc/asound/cards
0 [SB ]: HDA-Intel - HDA ATI SB
HDA ATI SB at 0xfe024000 irq 16
1 [NVidia ]: HDA-Intel - HDA NVidia
HDA NVidia at 0xfcffc000 irq 19

thanks so much for everyone helping me out!

Re: GT430 no Sound? - therio - 07-21-2011

Ok, another try if you would like to test it:

With SSH, do the following:

Code:
nano .config/asound.conf

remove anything and copy all beneath here:

Code:
pcm.!default {
type hw
card 1
device 3
}
ctl.!default {
type hw
card 1
device 3
}

device could also be 7, 8 or 9, but start with 3 and follow my guide completely.

Save all with ctrl+x, yes, enter

Code:
nano .config/modprobe.d/nvidia-hdmi.conf

Copy all beneath if everything is clear and empty:

Code:
options snd-hda-intel enable_msi=0 probe_mask=0xfcffc000

Save all with ctrl+x, yes, enter

reboot

Inside XBMC, you probably have to set the audio also, set it to:

HDMI
custom: plughw:1,3
custom: plughw:1,3

If this doesn't work, change the asound.conf and set device to 7, 8 or 9
Also change the customs according your setting to 1,7, 1,8, or 1,9.

Have found this on this link: http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=2395572

Re: GT430 no Sound? - Andro - 07-21-2011

when trying to save with ctrl+x

[ Error writing /.config/asound.conf: No such file or directory ]

Re: GT430 no Sound? - therio - 07-21-2011

Hmm, ok, did some changes in the commands, retry the guide Wink

Re: GT430 no Sound? - therio - 07-21-2011

and if nvidia-hdmi.conf doesn't want to save, do a "touch .config/modprobe.d/nvidia-hdmi.conf"');
