Raspbery Pi 3 Model B+ - DrSteve - 03-21-2018

Does OpenElec 8.0.4 work on the new Pi3 Model B+?

I've been running 7 on a PI 2 for ages, and thought I would run the latest version on the latest PI, but it won't boot up.

Thanks in advance.

No! There is no OpenELEC version available running on the new RPi 3 B+.

There hasn't been any updates for a long time. Maybe it's the right time for OE to make one?

Hi,

i ve got a question.

I used the same SD-Card with Open-Elec installation when switching from Pi2 to P3. Worked fine.
Now I switched the the SD-Card from P3 to P3B+, and it doesn’t start. in the Is the P3B+ defect or does the image cant boot due to new W-Lan chip ?

Many greetings for your help.
Greetings
Peter

If you are in a hurry, you (all) could try changing to the fork "libreelec", it's running on Raspi 3 B+ version.

https://libreelec.tv/downloads/
There, search for "Migration from OpenELEC"

Download the .tar and proceed with instructions for manual upgrade.
You should end up with libreelec 8.2.4

I did the above because when migrating from my Raspi 2 to Raspi 3 B+, it would
not boot. Now it does, and the system is up to date. All settings kept Cool
I updated to openelec 8 prior to using the libreelec update tar, however.
