Am I missing something? I can't seem to find any update selection in the OpenElec settings menu to set it to Auto, Manual, or None. Where is this selection found?

Apologies, I know I must be being dumb here, but even after changing this setting to Auto update, I dont see any evidence that the system has performed any auto update after a day or so? Im still running the June14 build, if I switch updates back to manual, how do I go about triggering an update? I understand that OpenElec is unlike other distributions and therefore doesnt require apt-get operations, however Im hoping I dont need to recompile a new image and reconfigure everything in order to get the latest version?
Thanks

Auto-update only works with official releases and the last of those was 1.95.4 in May so there is nothing to update to at this time. If you are running development releases the auto-update function is disabled and you will need to perform updates manually (or install cron and write your own update script). If you manually update from a development release to an official release again the auto-update functionality will resume working (and vice versa).

Thank you all for the QUESTIONS and ANSWERS. Even knowing where to look, it was an arduous search to find where to change the settings. May I humbly suggest that it should be in SETTINGS-SYSTEM as a separate page in the page menus like: VIDEO OUTPUT, AUDIO OUTPUT, INPUT DEVICES, OS SETTINGS, POWER SAVING, DEBUGGING, MASTER LOCK. Again, THANKS A LOT for the fine help you folks provide for all USERS who get lost once in a while. I have found the XBMC community to be most Brilliant programmers, tolerant and helpful people, you really make this communiy SHINE.

Auto update is in the Openelec settings where is should be, what you suggest is putting it within XBMC settings. Remember Openelec is the OS platform where XBMC runs, when updating Openelec you want to do just that within Openelec. They are separate entities. |
