HI,
Firstly thanks for building such a great system! it runs superbly on my revo and I am very impressed with it. much better than my previous windows install then xbmc ontop.
I know there is a lot of info on this but I cant seem to find the best fix.
I have a 9.1 speaker setup (set as 7.1 in xbmc settings) running over hdmi from my revo 3700 into my onkyo. everything seems to work great but I have just noticed on a lot of my newer shows that the 5.1 aac audio doesnt seem to work right.
Im getting centre speaker (speech) audio coming out of rear left speaker. thats the most obvious issue anyway, im sure other mappings are wrong too.
my setup works fine for everything but aac (and possibly flac) any other surround content seems to be working fine.
By switching main output to optical/coax the audio sounds better but im pretty sure its just downmixing it to 2.0 or 2.1 then.
I have read about various fixes but I'm not sure what applies to openelec.
I have played around with the settings in xbmc but the only thing that seems to make any difference is the optical/coax setting.
I have looked into the asound.cof file but again not sure whats best to use for my setup and openelec.
Any input would be greatly appreciated, also any reasons for why this happens?
many thanks
