So like the title says I need a new USB IR receiver that works out of the box with OpenELEC.
I currently have 3 HP MCE receivers (gray rounded ones with the dark front), the problem is that the 2 that I have in use with my plasma TVs get blinded (flooded) by the light from the plasma screen. Basically, if ANY light from the TV is seen by these receivers, they stop working very well to maybe not at all, depending on how much light is reaching it.
I have also tried a Rosewell IR receiver, it suffered from the same thing. The only IR receiver that has never had an issue around the plasmas was the original XBOX DVD dongle, which I would gladly use if OpenELEC supported them still (and they could wake up from stand-by).
So I guess the requirements are:
USB
Supported by OpenELEC
Not blinded by a plasma
Support for pretty much the same buttons as the original XBOX DVD dongle
Adheres to the RCA/MCE standard IR codes (at least will work with universal remotes)
Extra:
Will allow USB wake from stand-by (if supported by the host computer)
I use the same universal remote brand and model for all of the XBMCs around the house so whether or not it comes with one is not really important because I'm not going to use it anyway.
Any input is greatly appreciated.
