[SOLVED] USB installer not working please help (invalid drive)

I am trying to create a bootable usb with create_installstick.bat. I am running it as administrator and have formatted the drive to fat32 (also tried fat). My usb drive letter is G. when it asks for drive letter i type g: and it says "Invalid drive selected" I have tried 3 usb drives now and am running out of options. In one forum they said it was solved using an older version of the bat file. Can anyone help?

solved issue by removing some of the drive checks. If anyone else has issue, attached is the modified file I used:

Hi there,

I'm having exactly the same problem and since I can't get my Ubuntu machine to boot from the USB stick, I need to try in Windows.
Unfortunately, the changes you made/the amended file, are not shown in the posting.

Can you post the revised text of the file, highlighting the changes please?

I'm having an identical problem. I'm trying to create a USB stick with Windows 7 64bit. I've downloaded and tried: OpenELEC-ION.x86_64-1.0.2; OpenELEC-ION.i386-1.0.2; OpenELEC-Generic.i386-1.0.2. Everytime I get a "invalid drive letter" error. I've tried reformatting the usb drive. I've tried placing the USB drive in other USB ports with different letters (e thru k). I've used 3 different USB drives of different sizes with various formats. I've tried other Windows 7 computers. I've also tried it on a Vista computer. I've even used a virtual version of Windows 95 and I still get identical errors. I used the modified BAT file where the drive checks were removed. When doing this, I don't get a "ivalid drive letter" error. The program proceeds without errors but nothing is written to the USB drive and a file with the drive letter (eg "k") is written to the OpenELEC-ION.x86_64-1.0.2 folder on my hard drive. I tried to manually remove the drive checks and again nothing is written to the USB drive but a file with the inputted drive letter appears on the OpenELEC-ION.x86_64-1.0.2 folder on my hard drive. Please help!

Hi with the drive checks removed you should only get an error if you try and write to a drive that doesnt exist (i mean really really doesnt exist make sure your usb pen drive is formatted to fat32 and labelled INSTALL (mind you labelling shouldnt matter). Second. Make sure you give the correct drive letter followed by a colon. For example my drive was g so when it asks for the drive letter type g: thats g followed by colon. If you are still having issues give me a shout and ill see if i can customise the batch file a bit more. Cheers.

This issue still happens with 3.2.2 with both the livestick.bat and exe.

Please update this.

They do not work with my sandisk usb drives. The modified bat above does.
