I've successfully bitstreamed DTSHD-MA and Dolby True HD audio over HDMI through my Radeon 6570 HD with the latest version of XBMC. Is that functionality available in OpenElec? If so, how?

AE will be available in XBMC nightly anytime after that; as well as xbmc's source tree. as soon as OpenELEC 2.0 Final is released, and sraue begins develpment on the next version of OE (ie, nightly builds start up again), AE will be available on all architectures OE supports (**as long as your graphics card supports bit-streaming**) there is a binary build of XBMC (not the openelec flavor) with AE already available; but its still somewhat buggy. see it here: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=124600
I compiled a custom build of XBMC with the new AudioEngine branch (https://github.com/jmarshallnz/xbmc/tree...nal_rebase)
and can confirm that DTS-HD and Dolby TrueHD work on OpenELEC (running on a Zotac ZBOX ID41). I used the Custom XBMC compile wiki to build OpenELEC with PROJECT=ION and ARCH=i386 options

Here is a link to the custom AE build (http://dl.dropbox.com/u/77456910/OpenELE...63.tar.bz2)...
Just stating the obvious but this is a DEV build and not an official XBMC/OpenELEC build so there may be issues/bugs... Remember to backup your existing setup so that you can rollback if you need to. One point worth noting is that this version of XBMC has a newer database schema than the official XBMC Eden release so if you are using in a shared (ie. XBMC with MySQL) environment your databases will get out of sync. Having said all of that I hope you enjoy the AE build... I know I am ![]() |
