Edit Reason: more detail about the failure added
)
Hi,
I'm new to OpenELEC, although I had a working XBMC setup until I decided to move over to OpenELEC.
but that is were it went wrong
I have a self build HTPC with an MSI mainboard based on the the Nvidia MCP73 chipset (an MSI P6NGM-FIH) with an ATI 4600 series graphics card and a Vertex SSD disk.
This has always worked fine for me. Also for the XBMC Eden setup I installed on it not so long ago.
I build a USB stick from the latest generic openELEC build 1.95.1 to give it a spin but I can't even get it to install.
I boot from the USB key.(sometimes get 'cant create /storage/cache .. read only filesystem' or some error during startup) If I'm lucky the installer actually works. sometimes it shows the main menu but pressing enter on option 1 only makes the screen shift 1 line up as if I'm entering a new line.
But say option 1 to install it works then I select my SSD drive and I get the progress monitor of the installation.
- It goes fast to 23% or 28% where it waits a couple of minutes on 'creating file system on /dev/sda2 ....
- then jumps to 50% saying it's putting files in /tmp/installer/part1.
then it usually jumps back to the main menu but a reboot learns that nothing was installed on the disk.
OR
it goes from 28% to 100%, (I see something flashing by that I recognice as 'installing system' because I've also been stranded on that part of the setup before) staying a long time on 'remove /tmp/installer/part1'
After reboot it just sais that no bootable OS is on my SSD disk (although selected the SSD during the installation). I tried several times, with different USB sticks.
Is there anything I'm missing?
Since the installer sais it is beta also, it will not allow the custom install, nor log file access. Only options is the default install with the 2 options, one about advanced partition selection I think, and if I want to enable SSH during install (which I want to). Tried the installer with all possible combination of options and does not seem to make a difference.
Much appreciate some advice. If I can get some logs of the installation that can help let me know where they are.
