Mapping subwoofer channel to front speakers

Dear Community,

I have a 5.(2) sound system and the front speakers includes passive subwoofers.

I was trying to make a asound.conf that maps the lfe channel to each of my front speaker with 50% on left and 50% volume on the right. I tryed a lot of suggestions that i found via google but nothing worked. testet with a dolby 5.1 video file that plays every single channel and the lfe keeps quiet

Does someone know how i have to map the speakers correctly? Or schould i just buy an active sub an forget about that idea?

This should probably be done via your receiver.

My pioneer receiver can specify the size of the front speakers, if they are set to large then no filtering takes place, but if they are set to small then you can specify a x-over frequency for them.

This may not be exactly as you want though because you want to have the subwoofer channel sent to your front speakers. You may need to set your audio output settings to 5.0

Hi, I have an 11 Year old Sony STR DE 235 5.1 reciver. I dont have any options like this.
Where can i set to 5.0? XBMC doesnt have that option :/

I was playing around with ttable in the asound.conf... what a waste of time!

I know where to change the channellayout but i didnt recognize that it can be set to 5.0 or that this will be the solution for me. So, you saved my life :laugh:
