OpenElec/TVHeadend/HDHomerun Prime - How to make this work?

I have been struggling and struggling with trying to get this combination to work but unfortunately I am quickly coming to the conclusion that this just may not. I am running OE 2.0 with an HDHomerun Prime tuner attached to my network. I tried adding the TVHeadend addon and enabling the PVR TVHeadend client in OE however when I tried to scan for services/channels it could never locate any. So I tried the latest version of the TVHeadend add on (3.2.18) and installed from zip. Again tried adding DVB Networks by location. It initially found 157 muxes for my location (US Cable Standard Center frequencies QAM256) but appears to be stuck at 133 awaiting initial scan, over a day now. On bright side it does say it found 15 services but I am unable to map them to see if any channels appears.

For those that do have this combination working any suggestions/tips/thoughts on how you did it? Admittedly I am not an advance user of linux but am able to get around in it but this has been the most frustrating attempt to make something work I have come across. I have been researching and reading every article I can find but I just can't seem to find the right answers so far. I would really like to see this work within OE because the potential is enormous. I should have mentioned that I was able to get the HDHomerun Prime work in windows and I can view channels through Media Player so I don't think it is an issue with the HDHomerun Prime.

Here is my current setup:
Running intel 64 version of OE 2.0, Installed Openelec2.0-Intel-x86_64-service.multimedia.tvheadend-2.1.6.zip.

Any help or suggestions to try would be appreciated. If you need additional information please let me know.

Did you install hdhomerun addon too? And do you see tuner in tvheadend?

Sorry, should have mentioned that, yes I did install it and I do see the tuners in the webui of TVHeadend. I was able to choose the US cable to scan and it seemed to have started at 157 found but has since seemed to be stuck at 133 yet to scan, been stuck there for over a day which makes me think something is wrong. When I tried the prior addon version that came with OE 2.0 it would scan but never find any services. This appears to have started to find some as I can see 15 services found but I can't go any further at this point.

As far as I know The HDHomerun Prime does not work with TVHeadend. TVHeadend doesn't have native support for HDHomeruns it only support Linux DVB drivers, the support it has had for previous models were via the dvbhdhomerun project which looks like a Linux DVB driver. Unfortunately neither it nor TVHeadend understand the virtual channels needed to properly tune CableCards. I was a able to get a few channels to work by forcing the info in but it was only a few and wasn't reliable.


Edit: I should add that I've now moved to using MythTV as a backend and it's working well with the Prime and newest nightlies of OpenELEC.

I don't know if HDHomerun Prime is something special but hdhomerun tuners works fine with openelec (tvheadend/hdhomerun addon).
And yes, hdhomerun addon uses dvbhdhomerun & co.

So now I am even more confused but I am leaning towards this doesn't work although I would love to get it to work. Seems there are others that do have this working but not sure if they are using a cable card or not. Is there a specific versions of TVHeadend I should be using? I am currently trying the 3.2.18 build. The webui is still stuck at 133 to scan yet, should I delete and try again? uninstall and re-install?

I'm afraid I can't help you much because I don't have any such tuner. I only made this addon. You should use latest versions of both addons.
And you see this tuner as type cable in tvheadend?

Yes everything appears correctly my problem seems to be scanning for services and actually finding them.

Well, oddly enough I guess I needed some patience. Suddenly the scan completed and I show over 500 services available. I then clicked the map services button and I now have 25 channels showing up in Live TV. Unfortunately I would expect to see over 100 channels available through the cablecard. Of the 25 some work and some don't but this is the furthest I have gotten with this. Now I'll try to figure out why the correct channels aren't showing but I would assume it has something to do with the scan. If anyone has any ideas please let me know.

Unfortunately, there is no true native support for HDHomerun Prime with a CableCard and developers are not putting much effort into native support like MythTV or NextPVR. There is some 3rd party work in progress to get around the issue at dvbhdhomerun.org to get the digitally encrypted channels to play thru tvheadend.
