DTS doesn't work with my config

Hi,

First of all, sorry but I begin with openelec...

My audio config doesn't work with openelec v2 or v3.
I have a hdmi cable between the htpc (asus s1-at5nm10e ion2) and the TV (toshiba tl838) and a optical cable between TV and receiver.

With openelec v2, dolby digital 5.1 and dts do not work
I tried this patch http://wiki.openelec.tv/index.php?title=...neric_ion2 but not better

With openelec v3, dolby digital 5.1 works fine but dts doesn't work.
And the patch doesn't exist for openelec v3.

In SSH, this is the result of aplay command :

If I understand correctly you are "routing" the audio via your TV to your receiver. It might be the case that your TV doesn't support DTS bitstreaming hence no audio for DTS.
In order to prevent this problem you should directly connect the audio to your receiver. Unfortunately your Asus doesn't have an optical SPDIF output and I presume it doesn't support HDMI otherwise you connect your HDMI cable to your receiver and then a HDMI cable from the receiver to your TV.

The cheapest solution i could think of is to buy a USB soundcard with optical out. A cheap example is: http://www.terratec.net/en/products/tech..._9884.html and connect an optical SPDIF cable from your HTPC to your receiver.

Yes, I routing the audio via my TV to my receiver with spdif cable, and yes my receiver has no hdmi connexions. On my receiver I have only one spdif in.
I think my TV supports DTS because the DTS works fine on my receiver when I load a DTS film on a usb disk plugged on my TV.

With openelec V3 the Dolby Digital works fine in 5.1 so I don't understand why the DTS doesn't work ?

Can you tell me, what should be the correct audio settings in xbmc with my audio config :
- Audio output

- Audio output device
- Custom audio device
- Passthrough output device
- Custom passthrough device

I don't know what the limitations of your TV are.

What kind of audio inputs do you still have available on your receiver?
In case your receiver has an RCA Spdif inout available you could buy a rather cheap optical to RCA spdif convertor.
In case you only have analogue inputs available you might consider to connect your TV via analogue stereo to your receiver and your HTPC via SPIDF (if you buy and USB soundcard with SPDIF...)

But I don't understand why the dolby digital 5.1 works fine from the htpc to the receiver via TV and not the DTS. However the DTS works fine from the TV to the receiver.

I found a solution in openelec V3.
To operate the DTS, just deactivate DTS in Audio output settings!
My config for audio output setting if it can help someone :
Audio output : hdmi
Speaker configuration : 5.1
All checkboxes activated except : DTS Capable receiver; Multichannel LPCM capable receiver; DTS-HD capable receiver
Audio output device : HDA Nvidia on HDMI #1
Passthrough output device : HDA Nvidia on HDMI #1
