RaspberryPi no picture or sound through receiver

Help please! Newbie here having recently bought a Raspberry Pi with Openelec and XBMC preinstalled on an sd card. All works fine providing I connect via hdmi direct to our tv, except the picture extending beyondd the screen which is another topic altogether despite making changes in the xbmc gui and through SSH, but I cannot get any picture or sound through the receiver - Pioneer VSX S300!? I've also posted this on the xbmc and Raspberry Pi forums and hoping I can get some help here too... Despite some suggestions and far too many hours googling I amd not having any success. I have tried editing the config.txt file through SSH but no joy. I have tried changing settings on the receiver but still no joy. My latest thoughts are wondering if there could be an issue with the version hdmi used (1.4 on the receiver). I saw that someone had a similar problem that had been rectified using an amplified hdmi splitter so might try that option.
Any thoughts would be very much appreciated B)

I have same AVR. I will test with RPI and report.

I test it with my vsx s300 and RPI openelec v3.0.1 and everything working fine. I don't know why it happen to you.

2 things I can suggest:
Try different hdmi cable.

Or

Close everything (takeout power cables vs.) Then take out all HDMI cables. Wait few minutes then first put HDMI cables wait 10 sec or so for initialize HDMI between TV/Avr/RPI then plug power then open first TV then avr. Last RPI.
