Intel HD graphics vs Nvidia GPU for new HTPC build

Hi,

I'm not sure where to post this or if this topic has been discussed before (can't find anything in the Video forum on Openelec.

I'm building a new HTPC build to use with Openelec. I want to use it for 2D 1080 Blu ray rips and bitstream of HD audio.

I have a build in mind but wanted to ask if Nvidia GPU was recommended over the Intel HD graphics. On the XBMC forum in the HW section the advice from people there was to use the Intel HD graphics. I'm buying a case for a mitx Mobo and one option has space for an GPU slot and the other one does not so I would like to ask if people here prefer a dedicated Nvidia GPU (thinking GT610) over the Intel HD graphics.

My build would be
ASROCK H61MV-ITX
SanDisk Cruzer Fit 16GB (for OS - openelec)
Ivy Bridge Pentium G2020

Case options are Realan E-i5 (no space for GPU card) or Realan E-i7 (space for GPU card)

No, the intel HD4000 will play that flawlessly. Even 3D will be no problem. for the HD4000

Hi HDtracer,

THe specific Intel CPU I am using has just the regular Intel HD graphics. It is lower than the HD4000 and even the HD2000.

Maybe I should rephrase my question: If I compare the HD graphics of a Pentium GPU to a GT610

Is one easier to setup in Openelec vs the other?
Are both GPUs stable in the latest openelec? (I saw some threads in the Intel section saying people were getting choppy playback when VDAAPI was enabled, probably old threads but not sure)
Are there any features missing from either processor? (I think de-interlacing is now working with Intel HD graphics)

Is there still an issue with intel not supporting 23.976fps?

That was the reason I went for nvidia last time around...

website Anandtech said that Intel handles 23.976fps a lot better in Haswell cpu/gpu...

So I'd imagine HD4600 and up won't be a problem.
