HDMI passthrough/xbmc question.

Hi, i'm wondering why passthrough still is not working for everybody, it ought to be a easy fix when geexbox solved this over a month ago.

As far as i can se the only difference between the asound.conf on openelec and geexbox is the 3 lines regarding name hints. could someone take a look at this or guide me how to change this?

I'm using the image from here:

And I have no problem with passthrough, switch to either advanced or expert in the system settings and enable it from your sound options.

I'm well aware of how to enable passthrough, and it is enabled !! but no matter what my receiver only shows 2 ch pcm. everything is working fine when i use geexbox.

Okey, that's strange, I had some problems with the earlier builds. But with these recent builds from Ryo (4.04-4.05) I havn't had any. I have an i4 with a Onkyo TX-SR608-reciever.

The reason i'm mentioning the namehints in the Sound config is that if i route the Sound through my oppo player the receiver shows the Dolby digital or DTS and not just 2ch pcm as if i connect it directly. Maybe i am getting the surround track but just not the track name.

Have you solved this problem? I got the same static noise......

First be sure that only dolby digital and dts is selected in passthrough settings. I'm getting sound, but the receiver is not recognizing the dolby or dts soundtrack, but everybody from openelec is basically telling me that it is working, and that i have to solve it myself if i have problems.

The solution.

Install geexbox and have everything working.
