First I want to thank all the developers of xbmc and openelec for all the progress they made on the Audio Engine. Being a music lover, I really like the new capabilities of openelec 4 beta (3.95.x), such as sample rate selection, normalize functions etc, especially for AMD systems (ok, the progress of the linux opensource direvers have enabled this, but nevertheless it's a big achievement).
I would like to see one thing added: the ability to remotely switch the audio destination (HDMI vs SPDIF) or enabling dual audio. For dual audio: I think (but I'm no expert), openelec 4 is using alsa audio. I was able to enable dual audio on Openelec 3.2.4, which also uses alsa audio. Using the same asound.conf on Openelec 3.95.2 didn't work. For Enabling remote audio destination switch, in my opinion a change of the JSON API is required which is not likely to happen. Or am I mistaken?
