Netflix in XBMC on OE?

Ive seen references to builds fixing Netflix but I've yet to be able to find any Netflix addon. I'd love the ability to access Netflix from OpenElec.

It can theoretically be done but the current volume and mess of different moving software parts required to make it work means nobody sane is volunteering to create an addon that is going to drown them in support work. In time it will probably happen, but don't hold your breath.

I suppose if I wanted to go nuts, I could use the Chomium addon and run Netflix from that.

Not really as would would need the pipelight plugin which will have to be compiled for OE along with wine

The current best "seamless" way to have Netflix and XBMC together is to run an Android build on something like the FireTV. With Gotham, you can place a favorite shortcut right on the menu. That's what I do.

Note that this only allows you to launch the android Netflix app and return to XBMC when you are done without having to deal with a lot of shortcut keys, etc. It's not fully "integrated" in to XBMC ala, say, Boxee used to do it - it's a separate app. However it does work quite well and the Android Netflix app is pretty decent.

Note that the FireTV has some limitations as do all Android builds, such as not being able to change refresh rates inside the app. That and lack of 24p support is a turn off for some folks and not a problem for a decent Intel/AMD box running OE. However for a $99 box the FIreTV isn't bad at all and does give you a lot more streaming media options in addition to a pretty great XBMC experience.

As far as an actual XBMC addon goes, that's been tried multiple times over the years with varying levels of initial success that always end in failure. Bottom line is Netflix is just not gonna cooperate with any efforts to get their content outside of their interface, even if you are a subscriber. And without their help you aren't going to get very far (or if you do it's unlikely to stay that way).
