Reboot Loop on Home PC Build

I've built a media PC and have been having issues with installation.

MotherBoard: MSI A78M-45E
APU: AMD A10-5800K
Memory: Kingston HyperX Blu
HDD: 2TB Toshiba 3.5" 7200RPM

Every time that I've tried to install, either OpenELEC or just strait-up Ubuntu, every time that it goes to do anything, the system reboots. It can get into the BIOS screen and it displays the OpenELEC or Ubuntu boot screen, but once it gets to any install screen, the system reboots. Does anyone have any experience with this or even a hint of what might be going on? I've changed the power supply to a much bigger one and I've swapped the RAM for a micro center generic brand that had a review that said it worked with similar hardware, but it still does the same thing.

Maybe you mounted the CPU cooler not right. Anyway, this hardware is not good for OpenELEC.

In the BIOS, the temp shown is incredibly stable, don't thinks it's the cooler. Just out of curiosity, why do you say it's not good for OpenELEC? Regardless of it's suitability, one way or the other it should at least run OpenELEC, right? It doesn't even run Ubuntu...

Maybe you should do some more research on his pc, the A10 has a very powerful GPU. Question is if it's compatible or has issues with OPENELEC.

Mine does the same thing. I doubt anyone is going to fix this as it appears very few of us are having the same problem.

The ONLY way to "fix" the issue is to install an outdated OpenElec (which bizarrely works) and manually update to the latest version. While it works, it's a complete joke to expect people to have to do this, particularly as the Fusion builds are likely to be removed which of course locks us out of future OpenElec builds.

meanwhile the devs who devote a significant amount of time to the project think it's "a complete joke" when whiny users post comments like that (and posting the same moan multiple times to different threads mean you endear yourself to the moderators as well) .. perhaps you should stick to Windows

Hang on, so you're saying IF a user reports a problem and agrees with another post that they're also having a problem that they're in the wrong? What kind of backwards logic is that?

And I say it's a "complete joke" as the problem doesn't appear to be getting any attention. I also said CLEARLY that I love OpenElec, even after your incredibly rude outburst. Is it any wonder so many people lurk on this forum rather than posting if this is how they're treated for asking a question. Finally, you lowered my "karma"? did I hurt your feelings or something?

Perhaps "complete joke" was the wrong way of expressing it. But it is frustrating that the installer just reboots and crashes the machine, it's even more frustrating to be told to "stick to windows", like you know me and my background in the slightest?

For what it's worth the problem has now been solved with the latest 4.0.2 installer

Thank you to the developers of this awesome XBMC distro. Did I intend to cause trouble? no. But ah well, -2 karma. Probably -3 any minute. Lesson learned.

hmm weird, there was not much commits in 4.0.2 against 4.0.1, and nothing which could solve this issue... bad if we dont know what caused this...

about the karma, i woiuld not care. there was spome reports lately users looses karma... not sure if its the forum or if we have a karmathief here in the forum.

we should think about disabling karma (but some users are collecting this :-)
