Audio output devices doesn't list my AV Receiver

I've been having fun and games setting up my new DN2820 with openelec and my new Yamaha RX-V675 AV Receiver. I think I've narrowed down the possible culprit - ARC not functioning correctly between the TV and receiver which in turn I think is affecting openelec.
When I go into settings and Audio output devices, I am assuming my AV Receiver should be listed here, but it isn't, even though the NUC is connected to the receiver on HDMI2. My Panasonic TV is listed here which seems strange, so I'm not sure if it is being picked up as the TV connects to the HDMI out of the receiver using ARC, or if it because I set the NUC up originally with it connected straight to my TV. Either way, I would have thought the receiver should be listed here to select? I think this is why I get no sound and only video from the NUC when I first turn everything on, the same as the TV, and I have to go into the receiver and re-enable ARC before they both start outputting sound (not sure if just a Yamaha quirk or if it's a bug in the latest Yamaha firmware, but that's a problem for another forum! Please describe exactly how everything is connected, your description is confusing.

OK this is the setup.
My Media player is an Intel NUC DN2820FYKH running BIOS 39 and OpenElec v 4.0.7 stable on an Internal Intel 40GB SSD.
The NUC is connected via an HDMI cable to my Yamaha AV-Receiver, RX-V675. This HDMI cable goes from the back of the NUC into HDMI 3 on the Yamaha receiver.
My TV is a Panasonic TXL42ET5B and this is connected via HDMI port 2 (which uses ARC) to the Yamaha receiver HDMI out port.
When I initially setup OpenElec, I connected the NUC straight to my TV as I did not have the yamaha AVR at that point, so I am assuming this is where OpenElec has picked up the Panasonic TV as a possible audio output device. Does that sound clearer? Thanks

The audio output may list the TV, that's fine. Mine lists samsung because that is my TV, but I have a pioneer receiver.

Why are you using ARC at all you shouldn't need it for anything if all the inputs go through the receiver.

Oh ok thanks for confirming. I just thought it odd that the audio output device listed the TV and not the receiver, and wondered if that is limiting the audio signal being sent from the NUC if the signal is going from the NUC to the TV then from the TV by ARC to the receiver. The only reason I'm using ARC is supposed to be for listening to TV through the receiver, not for anything else.
