RPi Upgrade Options

I'm new to OpenElec & XBMC, but have a specific need, but not sure who to ask for some simple advice!

I'm looking to transfer my entire DVD collection onto an external hard drive & want something small & fairly cheap to enable me to connect it to my TV by HDMI & basically watch my DVDs on my TV.

The RPi was my first thought & I even borrowed one from a friend and had a test, but the interface was laggy & a bit slow, but everything else was fine.
So I *think* I'm looking for a higher spec RPi equivalent, but it must run OpenElec & preferably have built in wifi & IR.

I presume hardware video decoding is a must, plus any video licenses I may need must be available.

I looked at the Banana Pi, but it doesn't run OpenElec or have the necessary video decoding apparantly?

Chromebox or Intel NUC

Even though the nuc is more capable (the dn2820fykh in my case) but so far I found one big disadvantage towards having a rpi.
Something in the video driver must be broken because 24p (23.978fps?) works like a charm whereas 25fps and 30fps videos are choppy, running out of sync or have occasional stutter or dropping frames.

I tried every setting so far no result that got rid of it completely. I think it's better now but nowhere near 24fps smooth playback.

Besides that my nuc is great. So keep in mind to maybe have a look at that maybe you don't have that issue.

RPi with some tweaks and overclock will do just fine. Or you can look for a hummingboard, but a hummingboard is almost the same price as a J1800 or J1900 intel...

Does this Hummingboard fully support OpenElec & hardware acceleration/licences etc... ?

My budget is about £100

We have no interest in supporting the banana pi, so don't even buy it.

The hummingboard is a cubox in a RPi form factor. It has the same support as the cubox.

I'm seriously considering the CuBox-i4pro...how do I get this 10% discount...no mention of it on the site?
