Onkyo NR-636 Audio issue

I also have an Onkyo 636, but am running OE5.0 on a Cubox i4-pro and have a lot of problems aswell:
- passthrough enabled for all types: audio dropouts all of the time on all formats (so bad the indicaors on the AVR go out).
- passthrough enabled exept DTS-HD and DTS-MA: audio works like a charm but no HD formats..
- passthrough disabled: random static noise on all audio formats. reduced it a bit by disabling "sync audio to video" and "sync refresh to display"

These are the EXACT same issues I have.

I have all this behavior as well. I have an intel-based board with an i3. Drops, clicks, pops, etc. Once in awhile the video drops out as well for a half second. No matter the settings, either it doesn't work at all, or it drops.

Are you running off the integrated i3 video, or is there a separate AMD GPU in your system? Have not heard of this affecting Intel GPUs yet, atleast not these specific issues.

Just straight HDMI out of the board, no additional GPU. its a Gigabyte board with an i3-2100T.

There are so many audio settings, its really difficult to find combinations that work. The way I have it now, I still get pops and clicks, and all my DTS files play acceptably enough. However a small percentage of my shows that are in 2 channel just have no audio at all.

I don't really understand why the audio seems to be getting trickier and trickier as new versions of Kodi come out. Shouldn't bugs be getting eliminated, rather than introduced?

If you also miss the HD-Formats, your CPU can't passthrough the DTS-HD,True-HD. Your CPU has the Intel-HD 2000 without the HD-Format.
