OE 5.0 HW acceleration for ATI Radeon HD 3200?

Hi all,

I've seen some threads about the open source UVD support and also some questions about older ATI chips but all responses are pretty old. I would like to know if there ever will be any HW acceleraton available for the ATI Radeon HD3200 RS780 chip? Does any one know the status of the progress? Is this still being worked on? Any chance to see HW accelaration for that chip at all in near future?
Just want to know if thre's still any hope.

Unfortunately not yet, once we upgrade to the 3.18 kernel release it should work, but this won't be till after the 5.0 release.

Hi all,

can we have a status update on the topic? I'm using the current RC and as much as I could see it it's using a 4.x.x kernel. The hardware acceleration is still not working. Will there be any hardware acceleration for the RADEON HD 3200 available or shall I assume that it won't happen anymore?

This hardware is from 2008! What should a developer motivate to invest work into so old hardware?

Alternatively... Try one of the older OpenELEC builds in the archive.
For OE 6.x support on ATI HD3200.... I wouldn't get my hopes up too high if I were you.
There is much simpler, better and cheaper hardware (meaning the electricity bill) out these days, like the Raspberry Pi 2.
