No sound with dts passthrough, ac3 works

Hi,
my cubox-i2eX is connected via hdmi to my tv (samsung d7090) which in turn is connected to a sound system via hdmi and arc (samsung HT-D5000, a 2.1 system which supports all the codecs).
Openelec is set to use pass-through for ac3 and dts yet i can only hear sound when i play an ac3 stream. no sound at all when i play a dts stream.
I'm using the following files to test:

I can hear sound when i copy the files to an usb stick and use it either from the tv or the sound system, only the cubox is a no go.

At a guess the TV is not passing the DTS audio stream thru from HDMI input to the ARC going to your receiver.

Have you tried running the CuBox HDMI to the receiver and receiver into the TV? That should definitely work.

The receiver has only one hdmi input and that is for the TV...
Regardless i tried it anyway and used yatse / ssh to start a video. While yatse was able to start videos i couldn't hear anything. Not even mp3 files. Don't know why the avr wouldn't output any sound at all. I gave up there since this way isn't feasible anyway.

At the moment it seems that the TV really does not forward the sound, yet i don't get why it doesn't at least down-sample the sound to stereo. No sound is kind of iffy (I'm aware that openlec can down-sample to stereo on its own, i just would like to use the advertised bitstream capability of the cubox...)

I guess the best solution is to buy a new avr with enough hdmi inputs to use bitstreaming since an optical link wont work with the hd audio codecs. Goodbye to an otherwise working blu-ray / sound system. Kinda sucks that no one tells you that everything needs to be connected to the avr when you buy the avr or the cubox. Also the four hdmi inputs of the TV seem kinda useless if mostly no sounds get passed thru.

It's possible that the TV doesn't understand or decode DTS so it can't forward it on. You can try turning off DTS bitstreaming in Kodi and you should at least get multi-channel PCM out.

Usually the Samsung TV's don't passthrough DTS from HDMI to the Receiver (via Optical Out), only AC3 works.

That's why i bought the Cubox-i, it has an optical out and the receiver receives the streams correctly!
