Install Openelec on brand new Intel NUC SSD

Hi,

I've read a lot about Kodi, and have decided Openelec is the way I want to go. JUST completed my new Intel NUC which has 8Gb memory and an Intel 180Gb SSD.

However, I'm not sure exactly HOW to get Openelec installed on the SSD. I've seen some instructions about getting it onto a flash drive, but it looked like that set of instructions was to RUN the NUC off the flash drive, which is NOT what I want to do.

Is someone able to point me to a relevant set of instructions?

Most of my equipment is Windows-based, and I'm definitely a linux noob, but I really wanted Openelec instead of having the bloat of Windows on the NUC.

dl and extract the tar file from here
insert a pendrive into your windows machine, make sure there is nothing on it that you need as it will be wiped
open the extracted OE folder and run the create_installstick.exe
point it to your pendrive and let it do its thing
once complete put the pendrive into your nuc and boot
follow on screen instructions to install

you may need to set the bios of the nuc to boot from usb or tap f2 as it boots
if your ssd is not recognised check to make sure uefi boot is enabled in the bios also

Hi,

I would like to run the NUC off the flash drive, how do I do that?
In other words, how do I install openelec on a USD stick (or any other removable media), so when it's plugged in the NUC,
the NUC will boot with OPENELEC.

Adding another question for clarification:

After creation of a USB stick with the 'create_installstick.exe', can I insert another empty USB stick to the NUC and point the openelec installation to install on it ?
In this method, can it live side by side with other OS installed on the SSD?

yes that is the correct way to do it
but for me when i try this i get a boot error with openelec unless i turn of uefi boot in the bios
