Installing to a specific partiton

Hello i would like to install openelec on my zotac. It has two partitons, xbmcbuntu and a partiton with movies and other stuff. I simply want to install openelec over the xbmcbuntu partition (no duel boot). However the installer only shows that the Whole HHD will be wiped (no option to choose partiton). I have been searching google for answers but to no avail. Could the problem be that openelec requires 2 partitions and there is no partition manager in the installer? I want opene elec to be the only OS with the other partition untouched.

I think ill try the manual method but do install grub or syslinux for just openelec. How to install syslinux?

The installer is deliberately simplistic and does not handle partial overwrite of existing installs. There are manual install instructions in the wiki but in short; You will need to boot from an Ubuntu (or other) LiveCD to repartition things. You need to create a small "boot" partition of 250MB to hold the SYSTEM and KERNEL files and a larger "storage" partition for Kodi data; something around 8GB is enough for 99% of people and you can probably resize (enlarge) the media partition at the same time. Bootloader choice is entirely up to you; syslinux is our default .. read the manual install instructions.
