Already posted this about the last beta. But as the bug persists for me in the final release, I edited this post to reflect this, and also made a new debug log using the current version (with component "video" enabled):

What happens in the log:
- I start a VC-1 encoded video file, let it play for a few seconds
- The resulting screen output consists almost only of artifacts and flickering, completely unwatchable
- I stop the playback and start kodi log uploader

This did not happen in any of the 5.x.x versions, but was already present in 6.0 beta 5 (i didn't try the earlier betas).

For the log file, standard settings were used in Video -> Acceleration. I also tried other settings there. But no matter what I choose, VDPAU decoding is always used, except if i disable it for vc-1 or globally. Then, software decoding is used, resulting in heavy stuttering. All the other settings on the same page don't solve the problem, i tried them all.

NekoFever, on which hardware are you on? AMD Kabini, too? This might be helpful Information for the devs.

I had this same problem on a homebrew AMD Kabini. Switching to an Intel ION with NVidia fixed it. I'm an AMD fan and would rather not have had to change hardware.

Still same here for me, I just discovered this tonight.

I'm using a ZOTAC FUSION350-A-E AMD E-350 APU and it does not play VC-1 I am guessing this is since I updated to OE6 but just to be clear, is this a Kodi problem or an OE problem?

I think it's an AMD problem. If they even bothered to develop proper video drivers for Linux, we wouldn't have to mess and figure out how to create our own solutions. Which seem to work for some AMD gpus/apus, and not for others, as was also mentioned in that github bug report.

If a previous OE version works on your older hardware, I suggest you use that and don't upgrade. AMD driver support is currently standing still as far as I know. It is what it is.
