Sorry if this has been asked before, couldnt find it w/ searching.
For some reason Openelec stopped properly supporting surround when it has to do the work itself.
Meaning - AC3/DTS passthrough to my receiver still works fine, but surround FLAC or AAC gets downmixed to stereo, even though my receiver supports surround.
Full logs attached but In particular:
Receiver: (Onkyo 705) supports LPCM and many surround channels.

Source file: 5.1 channel FLAC (96K, 24B too)

But then Openelec says
22:07:16 T:139657765447424 DEBUG: CAESinkALSA::GetChannelLayout - Input Channel Count: 2 Output Channel Count: 2
22:07:16 T:139657765447424 DEBUG: CAESinkALSA::GetChannelLayout - Requested Layout: FL,FR
Eek. So suddenly somewhere openelec/kodi downmixed to stereo.
This worked before (1-2 years ago, previous version of openelec/xbmc) on exactly the same hardware; in particular I used to tell XBMC *not* to use passthrough but I forced 5.1 LPCM by saying that was the only supported format my receiver could handle.
Thoughts?
