I have used successfully version 5.0.8 on my HTPC that is connected via onboard graphics and HDMI to my TV. I've got a Full HD picture and sound, after selecting HDMI#1 in Kodi audio settings.
After 6.0.0 was released I upgraded, but since then I have had no sound via HDMI. I need to use the nvidia-legacy version build since my nVidia chip is no longer supported by the driver version 352.63 used for 6.0.0 generic. It costs me several hours for finding the cause, but today I found the following page, which showed me that with version 6 of openelec I've been "falling through the net" with my nVidia hardware: http://www.nvidia.com/object/IO_32667.html
I have Geforce 9300 with nForce 730i (0x086C) and this hardware is no longer supported by latest 352.xxx driver and is not supported by 304.xxx driver, only 340.xxx driver build is supporting my (and probably other users) hardware.
List of nVidia Linux driver versions: http://www.nvidia.com/object/unix.html
I know, that nVidia states that Geforce 9300 is supported by the 304.128 driver (http://www.nvidia.com/Download/driverRes...0399/en-us) , but the link above shows other information, which (from my experience) is the truth for the 304.xxx driver.
So my question: Is it possible to add another version of openelec 6, that has build-in 340.xxx nvidia legacy driver? Since I found quite a lot of hits in the web of people using openelec and having problems with HMDI sound, maybe usage of the 340.xxx driver will also solve their problems...
Or (since I can make a VM with necessary Linux build system), how can I replace the 304.xxx driver in the source code with the 340.xxx build and build my own openelec version?
