Hello,
I have been struggling with this problem for some time now, and finally decided to ask the community for some feedback.
I have an Intel NUC 5i5RYH connected through HDMI to a Pioneer SC-68 amplifier. Bitstream passthrough audio works perfectly, however the sounds from Kodi themes and playback of FLAC files does not work.
Through my research, I have found two threads that describe my problem to a tee, and both are from two years ago.

The topics at hand say the problem was with OpenELEC 3.2.x and that a patch for the kernel has been applied for Intel machines, however I was experiencing the problem with OpenELEC 6.0.x series of releases and now with the currently upgraded 7.0 beta series.
Could someone please tell me if I have missed a key piece of information on how to fix this issue please?
I really don't want to have to run my NUC at 720p when all my equipment is rated for 1080p native.
